What you control
Trim size. 5×8, 5.25×8, 5.5×8.5, 6×9, 7×10, or a custom size for hardcover runs on IngramSpark.
Body font. Garamond, Caslon, Minion, Baskerville, Sabon, or bring your own licensed font file.
Chapter heading style. Pick from a dozen designs. Classic centered Roman numerals, modern left-aligned numerics, ornamental flourishes, or a clean sans-serif display cut.
Drop caps. On or off. Size the cap, choose the font, set how many lines it drops.
Running headers. Author name on the verso, book title on the recto. Or chapter title. Or nothing. Page numbers top, bottom, inside, outside, centered.
Scene-break glyph. Three asterisks, a centered ornament, a hairline rule, a custom SVG you upload, or plain white space.
Front matter. Title page, copyright page, dedication, epigraph, table of contents, also-by page, map. Drag to reorder. The app handles Roman numeral pagination automatically.
Back matter. Author note, acknowledgments, about-the-author, mailing list signup, also-by, preview chapter from the next book, reviews request page.
Files that pass validation
KDP rejects files for bleed errors, embedded font problems, and page count mismatches. IngramSpark is stricter. ePub validators flag anything sloppy in the XML.
