Lough Na Corra near Croagh Patrick

“At the end of his fast St Patrick threw a silver bell down the side of the mountain which knocked she-demon Caoránach from the sky into a lake at its base, since known as Lough na Corra, and that he then banished all snakes from.”

About

Lough Na Corra is a tiny triangular lake at the foot of Croagh Patrick. Its small fame comes from a tail about Saint Patrick chasing demons into the lake to subdue them.

Climate

Close to Clew bay, this is an extremely windy place.

Role in the Story

The Da squeezed in on the other side, sort of sandwiching me in-between. “It was the final resting place of some of the demons Patrick eliminated.” He said.

“Demons? Eliminated? You’re making that up.” I scoffed.

“No tour Da’s right on,” said the nun, her country accent deep and rich as if she never set foot in a city. “Notice how the animals avoid it like it’s surrounded by nettles.”
